What's in that Stuff?

She had us up half the night, barking to go out TO PLAY IN THE SNOW. All day, every 25 minutes, she wants to go out, and then, after about a half hour, she comes in wearing the evidence. Is snow like catnip for dogs? What’s IN that stuff?!

Smart Observation

I show this photo to my 13-year-old son, my baking partner in crime. “Cool pan,” I say. He looks, “It makes, what, EIGHT rolls? That’s only enough for a family of TWO.” 😳 The kid has a point; these boys can really plow through the bread.

Addicted to Show

I’m completely addicted to this show. I can now diagnose an abscess, choke, a parasite issue — and I’ve learned a LOT about birthing cows. PS: PLEASE deworm your herds; it will save Dr. Pol, Dr. Emily, Dr. Brenda and me a lot of anxiety.

Beautiful Garden

Sharing, because I love everything about this! • This 200-year-old house, built from Cotswold limestone, sits in a valley in Gloucestershire on a site that has been occupied since the 15th century. The garden has been re-planted by the current owners, who tackle a new project each year, adding two ponds and developing a rose garden, orchard and vegetable garden. The formal garden in front of the house looks out over a wooded valley, part of its seven-acre estate; the small summerhouse behind it was originally built for a footman.

Sisters!

My sister asks, “What can I bring for Christmas Eve?” I say, laughing “Well, I sure do love The Rock!” 😉 So, she hands me this. 🙄 (Looks more like a turd than a rock, honestly. But, it was still a cute joke... but not as cute as The Rock.)

Thank You!

Tonight, I’m grateful for mommies that cuddle up and read to their sweet kiddos before bed on Christmas Eve — and all of the other 364 days. I’m grateful for a church service that softened my heart after a long, busy, agenda-filled stretch and reminded exhausted-me of the beauty of my faith. I’m grateful for the multitude of heavenly host that lit up the black sky that long-ago night, and the way that story lit up my soul tonight. I’m grateful “a weary world rejoices,” because I’m most certainly one of the weary and grateful for the feeling of joy I felt so many times today. I’m grateful for cookies for Santa and carrots for hungry magic reindeer, and for the tender, sweet way those gestures remind our children to say, “Thank you.” I’m grateful that I’ll sleep tonight knowing my boys are home, here, safely tucked in — teenage attitudes and all — in a home filled with love and memories and the realization that RIGHT NOW, THIS MOMENT is worth everything because, like all moments, it’s precious and fleeting. I’m grateful for dozens and dozens of friends and family that fill my home and my heart and for more blessings than I can begin to count. And, I’m grateful for this sweet family that I’ve never met for posting these touching, dear photos and saying lovely, kind things about my books and my work. ❤️ Merry Christmas... and, goodnight.

Yummy

Question #1: Why can’t they make lasagna noodles long enough to run the whole length of the pan? Question 2: How did I miscount the number I needed to boil? 🙄
