Blame Legoland!

When he was 5, we took him to Legoland, where he LOVED driving the little cars. Five times. Eight years, countless leagues, two karts, three engines and heartstopping speeds later... I blame Legoland.

Tiny & the Big Dig

“Tiny and The Big Dig” is my own version of a “Carrot Seed” story. It offers an opportunity to talk to kids about believing in themselves and having confidence in what they know is right-and-true, regardless of the world’s Negative Nellies. 👊🏻

Super Fun!

One of the schools posted these pics on social media. The expressions of the kids during my presentation are hysterical! I didn’t realize I was that... hmm... scary?

Fight for Our Libraries!

I am in this beautiful elementary school library that is EMPTY, because the school librarian has to split her time between FOUR SCHOOLS. This is NOT OK! Kids NEED exposure to books BY A DEDICATED, KNOWLEDGEABLE PROFESSIONAL who can get the right books into the right kids’ hands at the right time.

A Lady Has the Floor: Belva Lockwood Speaks Out for Women's Rights

Written by my friend and fellow Chicago-area author Kate Hannigan, “A Lady Has the Floor: Belva Lockwood Speaks Out for Women's Rights” is a GORGEOUS nonfiction picture book biography of Belva Lockwood, a lawyer, activist and presidential candidate who devoted her life to overcoming obstacles and demanding equality for women. Illustrated by Alison Jay. ❤️

ETHAN LONG

A set of five “Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site” board books will be out soon — with themes of colors, numbers, shapes, alphabet and opposites — all illustrated by my friend, the talented (and kid-at-heart) Ethan Long. When I saw this sketch for the opposites book this morning, I LITERALLY laughed out loud. 😃
