Let's Chip in...

Ok, creative friends: Imagine that we all pitch in on this artists/writers retreat! Only €446,000! 9 bedrooms, 5 baths. Just shy of an (US) acre (so not an overwhelming amount of property.) An easy drive to Spain. Close enough to Paris, Italy, Switzerland.
Beautiful herringbone flooring, marble staircase (rare and stunning with its iron balustrades), wrought iron doors and a stunning veranda. New roof. (!)

The LOCATION
LAUTREC, TARN……
Lautrec ………no 15 on The Guardians top 20 most beautiful villages in France. Toulouse Lautrec’s family came from this medieval village. Marked by a cross at the top of a hill is where the castle once stood. Some ramparts remain, but the historic centre, with its half timbered house and covered market hall, is the main attraction, with a traditional market on Fridays.

Love this Review!!!

I LOVE this review from @kids.books.i.didnt.hate — EVEN MORE than I love their Instagram name (and I REALLY LOVE that Instagram name! 😂)
Do you have a little superhero lover? Allow me to suggest something that is equally exciting but features jobs that kids can actually have when they grow up.

Roto and Roy (2022)
Ages: 3+
Author: @sherririnker
Illustrator: @devas_t
Summary: “When a dangerous forest fire burns out of control, helicopter Roto and pilot Roy are ready to fly to the rescue! They’re braver than brave, tougher than tough, and nothing will stop this firefighting crew from completing their mission.” (From the publisher)

I like how the brightly colored illustrations seem to riff on superhero comics in texture and style, which makes these everyday heroes feel even more like superheroes. The illustrations also play neat perspective tricks that make the illustrations seem even more exciting.

I really like that Roto is written as female, it can be harder to find that in construction/vehicle books. The rhyme is tight, in Rinker’s signature style. I also enjoy that the book has lots of onomatopoeia (sound words), which are fun to say and fun for little ones to copy.

Multiple rereads have been requested already. Sherri Rinker also wrote the Revver the Speedway Squirrel chapter books, which I’ve featured previously.

Stop Shaming People

IT’S TRUE! 99% of the time, CHILDREN’S BOOKS (mostly middle-grade fiction) are my leisure-read books of choice. That’s partly for research, partly because my school-visit audiences and I like to talk about books together and partly because… I love them. 🙌🏻❤️ Thanks to my Caterpillar truck friend @im_archie4 for sending this.

Thanks for the Nice Words

Thank you @brightwishbooks for such incredibly nice words about Roto and Roy! 🥰

I think we found a new hero!

Roto and Roy Helicopter Heroes is a fantastic, fun book that the girls loved. We are huge fans of @sherririnker and she does it again with this book. The rhyming and use of onomatopoeia makes this such a perfect read aloud! My three year old loved saying “whirrr!” and “boom!” 😂

The illustrations are so much fun too and we loved the expressions on Roto.

Big Thanks!

Thank you @littlebookwormclub for this FAB 🚁🚁🚁 review!!!
Roto and Roy Helicopter Heroes

This was our bedtime book for the night and Atticus absolutely loved it. So much that he asked to read it again just upon finishing 😅

From the author of goodnight, goodnight, construction site series (one of our favs), @sherririnker , comes a high flying fire rescue mission. Roto and Roy always rise to the occasion. When threatening forest fires burn wildly, they get the job down. They are fearless and determined. Readers will fall in love with these heroes and their action packed adventures.

Revver Love

Sometimes, I need a reminder that being successful isn’t about bestseller lists or sales numbers or what critics think... 🏁

I’m forever grateful for my amazing agent and an incredible, nurturing editor — for allowing me to touch one 9-year-old and one grandfather.

And, thank you, sir, for taking the time to email me … and remind me that

Sensory Play Ideas

AWESOME SENSORY BIN IDEA (and photos!) from @mommassori123 🙌🏻
Goodnight Goodnight 🌙 💤 Construction Site 🏗 Bulldozer’s Shapes 🔷🔺〰️

✨ Here is a simple digger sensory bin we love to use. I incorporating using one of our other favorite book📚series: Goodnight Goodnight 🌙 💤 Construction Site 🏗 Bulldozer’s Shapes 🔺🟩 🔵🔶〰, & added a shapes component in order to keep participating in #sensoryplayandbooks 🙌🏻

MATERIALS ➡️ @natgeo kinetic sand, any small “digger” and construction figures you have, & any kind of tangible shapes you have
✨you can put stale cereal🥣 in a blender for a taste safe kinetic sand alternative

PREP ➡️ Literally just throw all your items in a bin 😂🙌🏻

STEPS ➡️ Just let your kiddo explore with their hands and free play with the objects 😊 You can also ask them throughout play to “find the (diamond 🔷square 🟥 etc.)”or ask them to “make a squiggle/triangle/circle with your finger in the sand” to practice shape recognition 😊

DISCLAIMER 🗣 definitely put a drop cloth down for this one. Particularly if you have carpet like we do, you don’t want to be on your hands and knees picking kinetic sand out of the fibers 🙄 ALSO - the remainder of the materials are choking hazards, so be vigilant with under 3’s!
