I wasn’t allowed to operate her (about once a month, I scrape the side mirror of my minivan on the garage, so this was a wise decision on CAT’s part) but I DID get a ride! 🙌🏻

Stress baking...anyone?

You’ve heard of “stress eating?” Well, I stress BAKE. This weekend was soft pretzels — about six dozen. And then, for variety, I tried my hand at pretzel ROLLS. And, I smoked a pork shoulder.

When you see a light-up tutu and you think, “Ohmigosh!!! She TOTALLY needs this!!!” and she’s been wearing it for, like, three days straight, and BOOM! you go WAY UP in the favorite auntie rankings. 👑🏆

How can I write poetry about… trucks? I mean… The poetry is already there, I just needed to put it on paper.

Helicopters

My latest “big machine” obsession: HELICOPTERS. 🚁 I simply cannot describe how AMAZING they are: The incredible engineering that allows them to do what they do, their ability, the unbelievable skill of the pilots… I’m awestruck — and counting the hours until I get the chance to go up again. 💫 THIS is what has inspired me to write my next picture book series, “Roto and Roy Helicopter Heroes.” I hope fans of my bestselling truck and train books will check it out. I’m eager to hear your thoughts!

Great Letter

I just opened this. ✉️ It came in the mail, sent to my home, with no return address.

I’ll be honest, I’m pretty anxious about a new series; the first book is debuting tomorrow.

Ok, frankly, I’m a nervous wreck.

But this… THIS makes me step back and remember why we do what we do, and how much I love my job and how much I love the amazing people with whom I’m blessed to work. And the fans? That’s totally the best part.

So, thank you SO MUCH, Henry. Wherever you are.
