Can a vehicle-loving kid truly be a fan of big trucks if they haven’t read the Construction Site books? I think not. 😆
Starting with Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site and most recently, Construction Site: Merry and Bright, the books follow the adventures of the construction crew as they take on various jobs. Despite the tough work, each vehicle pitches in to do their part and help to get the job done. 🚧 🏗
Griffin loves all of the Construction Site books, but these two were his early favorites. He loves Mission: Demolition because it starts with Crane Truck using his wrecking ball (“rock ball”) to smash through the old building before the rest of the crew continues breaking things down and clearing the site. In Kid McGear, the crew initially thinks she is too small to help them out, but realizes their error when she saves the day. Griffin likes the action, skid steer’s various attachments, and the overall happy ending. ❤️

This book is a Christmas version of one of our favorites, and the lift-the-flap style makes it so fun. Another holiday book that we’ll look forward to every year…

Construction Site on Christmas Night 🚧🎄
After the craziness of the coconut and rice bins I needed to find a simple filler that wouldn’t make a mess. I ended up using cotton balls to create the snow for our Christmas construction bin and it was perfect! My daughter loved scooping and filling the trucks with “snowballs”

This is our new Christmas book for the year and we are loving it! 🎄

My boys visited Santa today and they are waiting patiently for Christmas Day. There’s nothing like seeing Christmas through your children’s eyes.

I am ALL ABOUT rescuing old things and surrounding myself with objects that have a story and a past — (and, ok, I DO love a deal!) … Liquor cabinet: purchased at a charity shop for $195 and painted (oil-based enamel) • Off-white chairs: 5 purchased for $125 from FB Marketplace; recovered, tufted & nailhead trim added • Chandelier: FB Marketplace, $90 • Wingback Chair: inherited and recovered with designer hunting dog fabric remnant (back and sides had to be done in a different fabric) • Round Black Table: Wayfair purchase! • Club Chairs: Snagged from a friend’s ( @paulapetersenborchardt ) garage (!); reupholstered (the bolster pillows are embroidered with my grandmothers’ initials 😢❤️) • Old Plate Rack: spray-painted flat black (thanks, @rinkerphotography !) • Leather-topped Rectangular Table & Lamp (vintage finds): FB Marketplace
